CALL FOR PAPERS

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the Central Bank of Nepal, is pleased to announce a nationwide conference on economics and finance. The conference is scheduled to be held in April 2022 in Kathmandu, Nepal. This event is expected to bring together Nepalese policymakers, practitioners and researchers to discuss issues in the Nepalese economic and financial sector. The conference also aims to create a platform for researchers to present and discuss their most recent research done to explore the impact of COVID-19 on the national economy and policy responses to it.

Topics for deliberation may include, but are not limited to:

  • Macroeconomicsand macroeconomic policies,
  • Fiscal federalism and public finances,
  • Globalization, international trade and capital flows, management of foreign exchange reserves,
  • Growth, Inflation, Employment, Poverty and Income Inequality,
  • Financial market, financial development and financial inclusion,
  • Monetary policy and its operations, central bank digital currency (CBDC), digital economy, E-commerce, Digital payment systems,
  • Financial stability, prudential regulation and supervision,
  • Impact of COVID-19 on the Post-Pandemic Economy and Policy Response.

Guidelines for submitting articles

  • The paper to be submitted to the Conference must be original work, neither previously published nor envisaged for publication elsewhere.
  • The document should not be published / presented / disseminated in whole or in part before its presentation to the Conference. Any breach as such will automatically result in disqualification from the journal.
  • The article accepted for presentation should not be published anywhere without the consent of the conference organizing committee.
  • The submitted document must have all the elements of the final document for the reading of the scientific committee. The article should also contain the JEL classification and keywords.
  • The length of the full article should be between 4000 and 6000 words.
  • Submissions should be written in English, typed double spaced with wide margins (3cm), on Times New Roman font and font size 12.
  • The title page should contain the title, name, institutional affiliation, full mailing address, phone number and e-mail of each author. In the event that the article is co-authored, the author responsible for the correspondence should be clearly indicated.
  • In case the authors have received a grant or any kind of financial support from any organization or institution, this should be clearly stated under the keywords.
  • References in the text should follow the style incorporated in NRB Economic Review. (http://www.nrb.org.np/ecorev/index.php) ie the author-date format and followed, if necessary, by the page numbers and must be sorted alphabetically.
  • The paper should be sent to [email protected]and [email protected].

Paper selection procedure

  • The received paper will go through a blind review process by the Scientific Committee and approval by the Conference Organizing Committee. The Scientific Committee judges the article on its merits and reserves the indisputable right to select the articles.
  • Incomplete articles will not be taken into account and will therefore not be selected.
  • The document will undergo one or more rounds of reviews as the Scientific Committee deems appropriate.
  • The author / presenter is required to integrate the suggestions made by the scientific committee.

Benefits of the conference

  • There is no registration fee for Conference presenters as well as for participants.
  • All accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings on the Nepal Rastra Bank website and will be available on USB stick.
  • Articles accepted with reference to Nepal or A South Asian regional analysis may be considered for the NRB Economic Review, a bi-annual peer-reviewed NRB journal.
  • A complementary lunch and dinner will be offered to all participants on the day (s) of the conference.

Travel and accommodation

Considering the COVID situation, the conference can be held virtually. In the event that it is organized in physical presence,

  • Free accommodation will be provided for the presenter (s), if required.
  • Accommodation information will be provided later on the NRB website.

Place and date

  • The venue and date of the conference will be announced on the NRB website at a later date.

Registration procedure

Interested participants presenting or attending only the Conference are requested to complete the registration form before February 28, 2022 and submit it to [email protected]and [email protected]. The registration form will be available later on the Bank’s website.
