Mysore/Mysore: In a major bureaucracy shake-up six months ahead of assembly elections, the state government transferred up to 21 IAS officers on Friday, with Mysuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagar districts getting new deputy commissioners (DC).
According to a government notification issued in Bengaluru yesterday, Mysuru DC Dr. Bagadi Gautham has been replaced by Dr KV Rajendra, who currently serves as Dakshina Kannada DC. Mandya DC S. Aswathi was transferred and replaced by HNGopalakrishna, while Chamarajanagar DC Charulatha Somal was replaced by DS Ramesh.
Dr. Bagadi Gautham has been appointed Director of the Department of Mines and Geology in Bangalore while his wife S. Aswathi has been appointed Commissioner of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services in Bangalore. The transferred Chamarajanagar DC Charulatha Somal received no assignment.
In other transfers, BWSSB chairman N. Jayaram will also be in charge of the revenue department, replacing additional chief secretary Kapil Mohan, who will now head the tourism department. Health Secretary TK Anil Kumar will simultaneously be responsible for the Disaster Management, Bhoomi and Urban Property Records (UPOR) wings of the revenue department.
Dr. Kumara will be the new DC of Dakshina Kannada replacing Dr. KV Rajendra while S. Akash is the new CEO of Kodagu ZP. Mullai Muhilan is the new commissioner of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, while Nalini Atul has been appointed chairperson of the Karnataka School Board of Examination and Assessment.
Mysuru DC’s new Dr. Rajendra is from Tirthhalli in Shivamogga district and is expected to take up his new position next week after Deepavali.
Speaking to Star of Mysore about his appointment as the new Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, a 2013 IAS officer from Karnataka cadre said it was a privilege for him to serve in Mysuru, which is the cultural capital of the state.
Stating that he was happy to come to Mysuru, he said that Mysuru and his hometown Tirthahalli share a special bond. “Before assuming charge of Mysuru DC, I will visit Chamundi Hill and seek the blessings of divinity. I will serve Mysuru District to the best of my ability for which the cooperation of subordinates, elected officials and all other is needed,” he said, adding that he very much hoped his service at Mysuru would be memorable.
