April 04 (THEWILL) – The Emefiele Support Group (ESG) has raised the alarm over an alleged media conspiracy to smear Dr Godwin Emefiele and his office as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The ESG alleged at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday that there were plans to blackmail Emefiele, based on the independent activities of support groups calling for him to join the presidential race of 2023.

The group’s communications director, Ms. Benigna Ejimba, clarified that all of Emefiele’s support groups operate through voluntary donations and self-raised funds to promote the call for the CBN boss to stand up. present at the highest post in the country.

Ejimba, however, said “the smear campaigns were futile attempts by panicked politicians to scare Emefiele from considering a presidential candidacy.”

“Please note that these determined young Nigerians cannot and will not be blackmailed into abandoning our commitment to a grassroots program aimed at convincing Dr. Emefiele to step down to continue to consolidate and expand the legacy of President Muhammadu Buhari. .

“It is a task to which we are committed and we have decided to give up everything, including our financial resources, for this to be done.”

She also expressed her confidence that once Emefiele answered their call and joined the presidential race, he would be the candidate to beat and claimed that the attacks were childish attacks that cannot stop the willful activities of the lawyers by calling Emefiele to come forward.
